You should start 2015 with a garden prep to-do list and be prepared for planting season as early as possible.
- Go through your stockpile of seeds, and make a list of those that need to be replenished before you begin planting in the spring.
- Order your seeds as early as possible so that you’re sure to get exactly what you need rather than having to accept substitutes for those that sell out quickly.
- Start seeding some of your plants in containers so they’re ready to transplant into your garden once there’s no longer any danger of damage to your plants from frost or unseasonably cold weather.
- Remove winter weeds, and prepare your soil for planting. You’ll also want to make sure you’ve got plenty of fertilizer or plant food available when you’re ready to start planting in spring.
As a part of your preparations, you can have the soil thoroughly turned and start mixing plant food in and watering it on a regular basis so that it’s ready to receive seeds or transplanted flora when spring arrives.
Different plants have different planting times, so make a schedule for when your garden items should be planted. You can coordinate it with the seasons, weather, or anticipated harvest times or when the plants are expected to be in full bloom.
