Garden tools tend to wear out and rust over time. The main reason for this is that people don’t take the time to take care of them properly.
In all honesty, if you take care of your tools, they should last you the better part of a lifetime.
Here are three simple ways you can keep your tools from rusting away under the summer soil.
- Rinse your tools off when you are done using them. It takes just a minute to do, and it removes dirt and debris that can allow moisture to remain on the tool and promote rusting.
- Apply a little bit of oil after you have rinsed your tools off. Simply take a rag, dip it in oil, then rub your tools off. This further inhibits the possibility of rust claiming your favorite gardening implements.
- Dip some aluminum foil in a vinegar solution, then scrub your tools off. This works like a charm and is worth trying.
